    Is anyone seeing Office 365 / Paperless Office emailing issues since the TLS update? I have a client who swears nothing changed in their O365 settings, but now they are unable to send Statements via paperless (tests in Company Maint fail as well). This all started happening Friday. Is that just an (un)happy coincidence?

    yes - I have a client that cannot send invoices.  email test from company maintenance no long works.  O365

    I'm not sure @alan niergarth if you're asking whether this is recurring for anyone else.
    I had a customer where we had to swap the email address to

    Sage also updated their KB recently on this and their suggested resolution is slightly different: 

    • Open Library Master, Main, Company Maintenance
    • Select the Company to configure Email for
    • Navigate to the E-mail tab
    • Fill in the following values:
      • Address: outlook.office365.com
        • (Formerly smtp.office365.com)
      • Port: 587
      • SMTP Encryption: TLS/StartTLS
      • UserID: <User Email address>
      • Password: <User Email Password>
      • 128-bit Encryption Checkbox Selected
    • Click Test Email to Verify Functionality
    • Click OK to accept settings in Company Maintenance

    I forwarded the article to their IT company.  the response was they don't have a user ID and password to use on this account the way it is set up.  Also this is a 2016 user (getting ready to upgrade).  Could TLS 1.0 be coming into play here?  I suggested they use an alternative SMTP client while we fast track them for an upgrade.  Website Pipeline is in play for the upgrade which is why it has been postponed.

    In my case ( 2018 ) a customer switched to the above and their email started working again. Is it all TLS related? Probably. I don't know why we don't see a lot more reports of it. SMTP2GO is one generic smtp provider I've used. The problem is most/many customers don't want to use some third-party random SMTP and in practice I think those less secure providers are on a few spam lists so deliverability may be poor.
