Is anyone familiar with the Inventory Sales Analysis report? Client on 2014 (recently upgraded from 4.3) who is trying to match the Sales Analysis report to the revenue accounts on the income statement. They have backed out Misc Items, and returns, and are still 500K off for year end. I've never used this report, so I am not sure if it should match or if it's one of those reports... Any input? TIA

Take a quick look at GL transactions not from SO in those accounts. Then back out freight as the Inventory report is product only.

IF they were on 4.3 and had not been keeping up on their Period End Processing, the YTD could be off. Prior to 4.4, there was only PTD and Future Period and if you let a month go longer than the end of the next month, numbers will not be correct. Most likely would be they left 2013 open too long, allowing some 2014 to accumulate into 2013. And then if the IM is greater than the GL, I'm full of hooey.

I cannot deep dive into it now, but It looks like this information is generated from line detail from SO. You might need to back out Sales Tax, discounts from the totals tab, as well as Freight, because all those are generated from Header. Back out all AR and other transactions that hit Revenue account.

They are insiting they have done all that. I think the real issue here is they don't know if this report ever match. After a major upgrade (plus they had hightower POS). It could be just a mis-match of many factors. I also just founf out that when a customer returns somehting, they don't always do it the right way. Sometimes thery just do a credit memo and manually adjust the item back into stock using Transaction entry. Now, who did I loan my magic wand to? I am going to be needing that back.

You can take their word for it or prove them wrong. I'm stubborn enough to write a quick query in Access that mimics this report for a major item using AR_InvoiceHistoryDetails and Header tables to prove it.

I'm a little late to the conversation, but I helped a client with this same issue recently. The inventory sales analysis report only shows sales of INVENTORY items. So as you mentioned any miscellaneous charges, or AR sales will not appear. Also, you need to make sure the product lines for all items post sales to the revenue account. As others have mentioned, anything that hits the revenue account(s) that is not from SO will be missing on the inventory sales analysis. Once I made all of the adjustments, I came to within a few dollars. There is a number for ""inventory sales that did not hit the revenue account"", and ""revenue account postings that did not come from a sale of inventory"".
