  • 1.  Invoice Reference Number (IRN) for India

    We have a customer who would like to start doing the accounting for one of their sister companies based in India.  A key requirement for customer invoicing is for the invoice to contain an IRN (invoice reference number).  This is a unique invoice identifier created by the government portal that needs to be printed on the invoice sent to the customer.

    Does anyone have any experience in this?  Any direction would be appreciated ... and maybe even a consulting gig for you, too!

    How many invoices per day and how are they expecting to get the data from the government porta?  Manually or a direct interface?

    Jeff, the volume of invoices is low (possible 1 per day) for now and may be growing, but still manageable manually for the foreseeable future.  If there was a turnkey integrated solution, we'd be interested ... but I'm expecting manually sending a file.

    It's not something you can just add as a UDF?  I have someone who has invoice numbers from another system and imports in but gets new invoices in Sage (other invoices are too long).  We modified Cash Receipts, etc, lookups to include both so if someone pays by the "official" invoice number it can still be found.

    Beth, I expect the data will be captured in a UDF, but I'm more curious about the communication with the government site and getting the data to/from that portal
