After running the "Inventory Purge Item History" utility through December 2014, customer observed that the Inventory Trial Balance and the Valuation Report by Period reflected a value approximately $4 million higher than expected. In contrast, both the General Ledger Trial Balance for the inventory accounts and the Inventory Valuation Report showed the correct balance of approximately $2 million. Upon investigation, the $4 million discrepancy was traced to warehouse "000" and two specific product lines.
Sage Support recommended rerunning the "Purge Item History" utility through 2015-one year beyond the previous purge date. If that did not resolve the issue, they advised reinitializing the IM_PeriodPostingHistory and IM_ItemWhseHistoryByPeriod tables, followed by executing the Recalculate Item History process. Unfortunately, these steps did not correct the discrepancy.
If you've seen something similar or have ideas on how to approach this, I'd really appreciate your insights.
