I'm flummoxed. These are screen shots of one item's History tab.
First is the Quantities where it shows 150 sold and 97 received.

Second is the Sales option where it shows 232 sold.

Next is the Receipts option where it shows 52 received and 126 produced (WO customer).
Finally, the Transactions tab where it shows 126 received and 170 adjusted/sold, both of which are correct.
So where are the figures from the History tab coming from???

No one has any idea where these figures are coming from?? I tried rebuilding IM History and that did nothing. I'm still flummoxed.

Valuation? Maybe the tiers are off? IM_ItemCost, or IM_PeriodPostingHistory? Are they closing periods?

Also, maybe a different angle, Any valuation changes? I recently did a valuation change for some items from Standard to FIFO (They were just entered incorrectly so not too many) but about half of the items ended up with a -1 quantity from the actual quantity. The transaction tab just shows VALCHAN but there was nothing in the Detail Report.

I tested in ABC company and it looks like the figures in your first 3 screen shots are all coming from the same table IM_ItemWhseHistoryByPeriod.M4T
but on the "Quantities" tab it is a summation; where the "Sales" and "Receipts" buttons break down the detail of each:
for "Sales" on the quantities tab is the quantity sold less the quantity returned (232-82=150 in your case)
for "Receipts" the quantities tab is the quantity received plus the quantity produced less the quantity Returned. (52+126-81=97 in your case).

I'm at a loss to explain why this item shows receipt of goods for 52 on the history tab, but your transaction detail does not show anything coming from the PO module or in Inventory receipt transactions. Nor do I see any sales order returns in the detail, but 82 show as returned on the history tab

are they tracking warehouse transfers as "Issues" I don't think that would explain this but I'm wondering

Just got off the phone with Sage support. Had a new guy but he brought in another woman who was somewhat testy. She suggested renaming the IM_PeriodPosting file then manually reinitializing it THEN running the Recalc IM History utility. I said, "So just running the utility wouldn't correct it WITHOUT renaming it first?" She didn't like that...

Will try that option later and let you know!

Well I finally spoke with a knowledgeable Sage person! The differences have to do with drop shipments. They add the quantity sold but also add a quantity returned to the history. The transactions do not appear on the Transactions tab because they are not true IM transactions BUT, did you know they store an SS (Drop ship sold) and an SR (Drop ship received) to IM_TransactionRecalc? So when I reinitialized the IM_PeriodPosting file, it looked at this file and the transaction detail file to rebuild history. This was added in 4.4. She said, "Someone must have requested this at some point." Yes, I remember people complaining because they couldn't see actual quantities sold.

That is so interesting!  Now that you say it, I remember seeing the purchase, and I wondered how I had always missed that!
