Interesting feedback on Sage 100 ERP 2014 via Sage 100 LinkedIn: Not sure this update is ready for prime time yet and I definitely would not recommend installing it till the bugs are worked out. We have been up on this new version since late January and besides the minor bugs like the email problems we have now had 2 major bugs. The first one we closed month end and over 900 customers just disappeared. Sage did a pretty good job and jumped in and got that fixed and was able to get the customer files restored within about 3-4 days. Now about a 3 weeks ago we merged 1 customer file thru the normal utility everything looked ok. After the merge, accounting informs we have over 500 corrupted files! It looks like it took over 500 customers all random as far as we can tell and merged parts of their account into one file. After getting a hold of David at SWK who has by the way done a great job at trying to keep us up and running and reporting the bugs, We still don't have a fix. It is to the point now we are afraid to try any of the features or even do standard procedures as we do not know what will happen next.

My philosophy is to wait a minimum of 4 months after the release before upgrading any end user. I can't think of any good business reason to upgrade someone this early. It sure is going to generate revenue... particularly post-live tech support... not the kind of business I am looking for and not a prudent long-term business decision.

The post was from a user in San Bernardino, CA. They've been on 2014 since January yet it was released only 3 weeks ago. Sounds like a beta possibly with SWK enhancements gone bad.

I'll be installing 2014 where I can going forward. It's tough enough getting clients to pull the trigger to recommend upgrades where they're already a version behind. We'll deal with the issues as they come up. Larger clients typically have extended solutions, so they need to wait a bit longer anyway.

Well, at least Sage 2014 has simplified the integrated solutions compatibility matrix...everything to integrate is now version ""X"", as you'll see on the attached. Honestly, is Sage Intelligence ver. 5.00.7140.017 still compatible with 2014?

@BillPfahnl I'm taking a modified approach - 2013 now and I'll do the 2014 upgrade at no cost in a few months. I'm betting that the 2014 upgrade will be minor based on only 4 real enhancements.

@WayneSchulz Although the changes are minor, it's still another parallel implementation and all the same steps need to be followed again. I could understand this methodology back in the days you could install in place.

The user that posted the comment is not a modified site and they do not have any enhancements. They upgraded to 2014 as part of SWK's participation in the Sage 100 ERP 2014 VIP partner program.

@MichellePaparo has Sage acknowledged the bug(s)? Are they primarily related to Delete/Change?

This is so tough - 2014 really gives users no reason to upgrade, you have to perform parallel implementations, and it's got issues (when nothing's changed - I really don't understand). What's the point in upgrading? I agree with Phil, I generally wait 6 months or until the second service pack to suggest to clients to upgrade...if at all. I'd be interested to know if Sage has acknowledged the bugs...

@WayneSchulz From David who handled the upgrade- There are actually two bugs: one - Delete/renumber utility changed the customer number on thousands of invoices in invoice history and two A/R period end purged all temporary customers regardless of retention settings in A/R Options. Sage is aware of both bugs and has issued a fix in 2014 SU1 and 2013 SU5.
