  • 1.  Installing v2021 PDF converter and using it to run v2019

    Posted 10-14-2021 15:33
I have a client running v2019 and will very soon be migrating to v2021.  They called today with the paperless converter -30 issue.

Since I have 2021 installed on the server, I installed the client on the workstation (loading the patched converter).  Then fired up 2019 and verified that paperless was working.

Can anyone think of a reason why this might not be a workable solution for future repairs?

I'm not clear if you loaded the patch on 2019 and ran workstation setup from 2019, or if you ran workstation setup from 2021 which would already have the patched Amyuni drivers. But honestly I think either way would not cause a problem.

What David said. ALSO, if their v2019 is PU4 or less, suggest you also go through the For Sage 100 ERP Versions 2019.4 and below section of article in KB 103205. Regardless of the PU, since the server side patch is installed already, suggest for each wkstn start the Sage icon as admin, run PL_AdvancedOPtions_UI, then do the Uninstall PDF Converter and Install PDF Converter.

I don't believe I had installed the patch as I was/am close to going live with 2021.

Before installing the v2021 client, I uninstalled the converter in 2019 via pl_advancedoptions_UI.  Installed the 2021 client.  Then ran v2021.  Paperless worked.  Switched to 2019.  Paperless worked.

So I guess my question is why are the patches version specific?  Is the converter version the same?  Would something like this work for installs that can't move to a current supported version?

Does anyone know if PU4 for 2020 has the patched converter in it?  The documentation does not say either way.

Yes, that area, but there is nothing for PU4 stated.

PU4 includes PU3 fixes, and point #1 for PU3 references the KB article with the Paperless fix... unless you are referring to something else?
