  • 1.  Installing 64 bit ODBC on new workstation AFTER installing v2021 STD client.

    I have never encountered this issue before (post 2017).  I installed the Sage v2021 STD client on new laptop.  User had local admin rights (so I am told).  I attempt to install the 64 bit ODBC driver and encounter issue below.  Sage KB 72168 provides a registry work around, but it indicates that it should not be an issue for v2021 (fixed in 2016).  Has anyone else encountered this?  Could the issue be inadequate rights when installing the client?

    Did you try right-click 'run as administrator'?  Or logging into computer as administrator?

    Hmmmm.  I usually do that instinctively, so I don't recall.  I will reconnect and try it.  Regarding the Administrator login, I ask IT to do it that way and they say user has local admin.  I say that usually works until it doesn't.  Sigh

    I may be wrong, but I think it checks for the 32-bit driver... so make sure you can print / preview a report from that machine.

    Reconnected as the original user.  Could not complete the install even after "running as administrator"  Logged in as an administrator.  Install was instantaneous.  go figure.
