In the middle of an upgrade from v4.3 Advanced to

In the middle of an upgrade from v4.3 Advanced to v2014 advanced - Have a new server with 2014 on it and migrated test data back on 6/20/14. For many reasons I ran the migration utilities on the one cpmpany code and then copied the MAS_XXX data to mas90\MAS_XXX last night and then converted the data from company maintenance. Issue: I copied over all of the paperless office pdf files to mas90\pdf. When I go into Link Maintenance to change the links I only see links to files up until 6/20/14. What file are the links stored in? What is the best way to transfer over all of the paperless pdfs so they are viewable in the paperless office viewer? can I copy over the file from 4.3 that contains he path links and then change them using link maintenance?

Resolution ID: 497465 Look in the ..\Mas90\Mas_System. How to move .pdf documents in Sage MAS 90 and 200 version 4.30 and later Possible Resolution: If a .pdf file is not moved correctly, the report viewer cannot locate the file, and the path in the PDF Location column displays in red text. Paths are defined in the tasks listed below in the Paperless Office Setup menu. Note: The setup files are stored in ..\Mas90\Mas_System. Report TypeTaskSetup Files Journals and registersJournal and Register MaintenancePL_JournalPDFLog.m4t Period end reports Period End Report MaintenancePL_PeriodEndPDFLog.m4t Standard reports Report Maintenance PL_ReportPDFLog.m4t Forms Form Maintenance PL_Form.m4t To move .pdf files, perform either or both of the following procedures: Note: These procedures use standard reports as an example, but apply to all report types.

Hi Doug - I just did the dame thing. In the old MAS, check the paperless office settings for forms, registers, etc to find the path the PDFs are stored in. Copy all of the files in these folders to the new MAS folders. In link maintenance, choose the PDF type and click refresh and all of the PDFs should be listed. Choose select all from the right side of the window. Once selected, click on the link icon on the right side, below the select icon. A window will appear and allow you to choose the new folder location. Depending on the number of files, it might take a while and appear hung. It's not...... Let me know if this solves your issue. or I misunderstood the question.

@AllynConway - This is the exact reason why I DON'T store the PDF's in the MAS folder any longer. Keep them in a folder under the Sage level instead (e.g. ..\Sage\Paperless\....., NOT ..Sage\V2014\Paperless). If you keep them under the current version folder, you will be forever moving them with each upgrade.

    Jeff - Good point!

Thanks guys. It is all working now.Copied over the relevant MAS_System files from 4.3 to 2014 then changed the UNC path using the re-link utility. @JeffSchwenk - Great idea of using a folder outside the Sage path. Shouldn't have to screw with re-linking the path to the pdf in the future as long as they don't change servers.

@DougHiggs - I do keep it under the Sage folder, just not in a specific MAS 90 version folder. Be sure your IT boys know to include it in the nightly backup.

@DougHiggs can you list the ""relevant MAS_System files"" you copies? It's nice if the details are included with the solution for future reference when researching. Thanks,

I've gotten into the habit of storing nothing in the mas90 folder. Create a \sage Then is use vxxxx for the ERP, create another folder \paperless. As Jeff said this is much much easier for upgrade time because then you don't need to move the paperless documents. Too bad Sage doesn't build some sort of file structure.

Last thing I want Sage to do is impose a file structure I'm forced to work with.

I try to maintain simplicity. Put the PDF's where they don't move with each upgrade, limit the number of folders to one for each type (e.g. journals\registers, forms, period end, etc) though I do maintain a set for each company. I have taken over accounts where journals and registers are segregated by register type. What a nightmare for updating.....
