In regards to SUTA reporting in Texas, it looks like they want you to report Gross Wages as Gross Wages less the cafeteria deduction. When Aatrix prepares the SUTA report it reports Gross Wages as Gross Wages (and does not reduce it for the cafeteria plan amount). Any ideas how to get the Gross Wage amount to be reduced by the cafeteria plan amount on the SUTA reports?

Under deduction code maintenance, if the deduction type was set to cafeteria you should be able to click on the taxes button and check on/off the taxes that the deduction effects.

Correct we do that - and the taxable wages are reduced, and on the form it reports the correct taxable wages, but the gross wages are not reduced. Apparently in Texas if the wages are reduced by the cafeteria plan then they want the gross wages and taxable wages to be reported as the same amount on the form.

@JohnLeonard I would contact Aatrix. Here in Michigan some SUTA reporting has changed in the last year and Aatrix has been very responsive. If only SAGE could move at a similar sense of urgency!

@MichaelMcDonald - We did contact them and they told us the form is populated by the accounting software and we should work with the software vendor to have to correct amounts populated. - Not much help...

So who writes the interface???? I have heard this before from Bruce... Seems very lame!!! Certainly Sage isn't going to change any SUI information as the code was written in the late 80's(?).. Who is going to budge? What is the downside of over reporting. They will eventually reach the wage limit? Yes, I know VERY lame. For my clients in Iowa, I use a Crystal report to extract the data for uploading. I am assuming, you want Aatrix to do what they advertise.

For a few employees they may not reach the limit, but at any rate the form is incorrect and now they are getting notices from Texas. I'm thinking that they may need to manually adjust the Gross wages for those people who have not reached the limit.

Try Calling Bruce Senti directly at Aatrix (701) 746-6801, ext 176. Maybe tech support is giving you a stock answer. Bruce may be able to do something about it. Worth a shot.
