In preparing for year-end, I was reading the 2016 instructions for Form W-2 and found some changes I want to pass along. Please see the highlighted items on pages 1, 13, and 15. The filing deadline has changed to January 31 for W-2's and 1099's and there are now penalties for filing a W-2 with the incorrect surname. Customers will need to correct very long surnames manually in Aatrix. Payroll 2.0 has a longer last name field so hopefully this won't be an issue next year.
