In MAS 90 4.40, CI_Item field 81 Total Inventory Value, where does the value come from? It does not appear to match the Valuation Report value.

I had opened a case with Sage on this a couple of weeks ago, and advised them to turn it into a bug report, as it was quicker for me to alter my report by calculating the correct value from other fields. Some of the problem is rounding done in the calculation, but there were also some lot valuation items that were just plain wrong. Short answer: pretend this field does not exist

I also opened a case with Sage, current response: I was able to confirm that the Total Inventory Value field (field 81) is updated whenever a transaction is posted increasing or decreasing the cost of the inventory on hand. There are currently a couple of program issues being researched by Engineering that involve this field in CI_Item . Looking at 4.30 File Layouts and using DFDM, it appears the 81-Total Inventory Value field did not exist on version prior to 4.40. Since the value is based on inventory transactions, the next question is this value calculated during migration from 4.30 to 4.40 from IM5? I've asked Sage that question, since the value in this field no where near matches the Valuation Report. I agree this field should not be used, but can be calculated in ALE using current QOH and either Std, Avg or Lst Cost fields.
