In case you missed it - this morning Sage announced they will use Salesforce internally and ""will undertake development work on the Salesforce1 platform to extend its capability in delivering cloud solutions to the small and medium-sized companies market.

Will be interesting to hear @PeterWolf commentary since he was at the Irish conference last week on CRM...

Working to integrate sfdc to customer erp products is not the same as using it internally. This decision is really, really stupid strategically. This is a second strike against Kelley in my book. (The first was renewing the pledge to hit the profit targets set earlier, guaranteeing that no new money will be freed up for significant product development.)

Pick one: 1. The people involved didn't know Sage offers a CRM solution. 2. Sage is run by stupid assholes. 3. I'm glad I'm ramping up my Microsoft CRM practice. 4. Maybe it is for the best - they currently use SAP CRM and it's horrible and holding back sales. 5. All of the above. At least they didn't announce during the Bootcamp. It's hard to have a pep rally when the head cheerleader is found murdered. ?

Don't bet against Sage corporate issuing a public press release. They don't do this lightly with all the investor rules, etc. Sage NA is most definitely not in control.

@PeterWolf If SocialCast allowed it, I would have clicked Like several times on your comment. I selected #5 and have printed #2 in large letters to attach to my monitor as a daily reminder.

We only dipped our toes in the CRM pool with our Sage 100 customer base. I have a handful of end-users that are using the Sage CRM module (that I lumbered through setting up). Any thoughts on the future of the Sage CRM module?

Expect a clarification FAQ or press release next week.

If Salesforce is good enough for Sage Internally, then it is good enough for my clients internally. Tired of fighting the fight where no one seems to have my back......

You never said that when they were using SAP CRM!

No @JeffSchwenk it's not good enough, and when you really delve into it with the clients, they actually hate Salesforce. And they can save a bunch of money just by going to Sage CRM. There is no fight - Sage CRM has rich functionality and is easy to sell if you look at the numbers.

And ALWAYS remember #2 in @PeterWolf 's list above when working with Sage.

Oh so Sage fired all the SPS salesreps to pay for SalesForce?

What I heard from my rep was that Pascal first tried to cut their residuals, and when he found that the terms of the sale agreement when Sage bought the company protected the reps (at least the ones who were employed at that time) from that, he decided to fire them all. He also seems to think Sage is planning to sell SPS - which, if true, they better do quickly because they just sent all their salespeople to work for their competitors.

I doubt Pascal is allowed to make decisions on his own. He's just UK's Best Boy.

What could Sage announce (or fail to announce) this week to top last week? Now they have to pay for all those SF licenses, so perhaps they'll change the tier thresholds to all be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l91ISfcuzDw

Yep I wonder how much money is being spent on SAP, HR - probably outsourcing payroll, I even doubt SAP is using SPS for their credit cards. And now Salesforce!! Fixed assets is probably in SAP also.
