Importing Bills of Material into Sage Adv 4.5.5. Header data passes and most line data ex. Part number/qty/description but when it tries to bring in L.Std UoM or L.std unit cost, I get the msg. "" This field cannot be set as regular items"" No entries. If I try to manually enter this particular Bill, when I go to save I get"" The Board key is required"" I have never seen these responses, is this a 4.5.5 issue or what?

Leave the Std U of M out of the import - it HAS to be the Std U of M for the item, so they don't let you import in to keep you from screwing up. Also, unit cost is only for MIsc Items.

On most imports, as a rule of thumb I try to let the business logic populate as many fields as possible or practical. it saves time and reduces the probability of error.

Yes, the ol ""less is more"" adage. Problem is figuring out how much less is enough.... Would be nice to have intelligent error messages. Sigh!

Ok here is the results. @DavidOverholt I did try to let the business logic take over. I file assigned the uom and std cost. Same result as the original with replace. Now I am trying the ""less is more"" @JeffSchwenk and leave em out @BethBowers , it is passing but I am concerned with the accuracy of the results. More Later.......

Do Not even file assign - it will handle it automatically - just put the bare minimum. I am working on one with BOM options.

Thanks @JohnnyPabian . I will also have some option bills later, are there any ""gotcha's"" there?
