  • 1.  Import into GL Detail Posting?

    Client has added UDF's to capture additional detail in GL posting.  GLDetailPosting is not available in VI.  Is there a way to turn on the ability to import into the file?  Or another way to update GL Detail history records to populate UDF's that have been added?  A one-off custom program would also be considered.

    So you want to back fill the GL detail history table with the UDF information?  As the SQL users will say, too bad it isn't Premium......  Wonder if someone could chime in with a DD hack to allow visibility.  I don't think BOI will work as it follows the current rules.  How about your buddy up in Dayton?

    Alan - I've studied this extensively. It cannot be done with a DD hack. It's not available to V/I because there is no business object for it. Here are a couple ways I've handled it.

    1. I've created a GL_DetailPosting_bus.pvc business object to make it available for V/I imports. This would be a M/D solution you can get from various MDs.

    2. You can do a V/I Export of GL_DetailPosting and apply the Perform Logic similar to the way I posted for Beth awhile back on this thread: Oh for Pete's Sake
    Note I originally posted when our platform was SocialCast so it lost some formatting when converted to HL.

    Detailed records to import would be exported excel.  Values in possibly 4 UDF fields would added to the spreadsheet.  Those fields would be "stuffed" back into the existing Detail records. The client is willing to entertain the idea of paying for a one-off MD fix.   Anyone interested in doing that?  

    Or we could upgrade them to Premium and use a SQL query to push in the data.  Which may have appeal in the long run.

    Is there a business object available to scripted updates?
    • UDT with the key, and UDF values.
    • Table post-write script on the UDT to open the GL table, SetKey, and update UDF's.
    • VI job into the UDT.
