IM Valuation Report By Period weirdness

Have a client on 2018.2 (because...Scanco) that is getting lots of Items with 0 Qty but random Inv Value amounts. While the standard Valuation Report has some of the same, the By Period report has many many more. I can see that CI_Item and IM_ItemWarehouse show a TotalWarehouseValue that matches the Valuation Report, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where the Valuation By Period gets it wacky numbers. IM_ItemPeriodHistoryByWarehouse has zero but the Val By Period shows -.01 (insert random amount here).

Anyone have some insight on this? AM I missing something?

Whenever I see things like this I try to rule out corrupted data.  *utl rebalancing utility, then recalculate IM (in a fresh test company of course).

Sage did fix the main cause of inventory value with QoH, but of course they need to upgrade for that, and the fix doesn't correct existing bad values.

@Kevin Moyes you are right of course, I failed to mention that I had already run the rebalance utility and recalculated history.

Mostly curious where these numbers come from. Is there a table somewhere that holds these values? Does the report calculate them? And if so what is the logic behind the calculation?

If the differences are pennies, look for values in transaction history with greater decimal precision than you see in Sage.  I'm guessing there are records that add up to your differences.

Look at IM_PeriodPostingHistory.  The balances carry forward each month.

Bringing this one back - v2021.  I ran the *utl for balance inv qty and cost, then recalc item history.  I am getting the attached - zero qty on hand with a valuation dollar amount.  How do I clear the NEGATIVE dollar amount????

Make an inventory transaction adjustment for $0 cost and quantity of +1 then update it.  Then, make an inventory adjustment for $-213.66 cost and quantity of -1.

Did not help  There are NO cost tiers with zero QTY with a residual value to apply which is the usual culprit.  This is also the valuation by period report.  Os the inventory value calculated?  Not seeing any tables that have a YE quantity and value stored.  TIA

You need to use Item Valuation Change Maintenance to change the valuation to average cost.  DO the +1 -1 inventory adjustments, then change the valuation back.

@Jeff Schwenk I believe the trick @Doug Higgs spoke of only works if the item is average. valuation. I did this for a client earlier this year. Change items to Average, make the +1 -1 adjustments, change them back to the correct valuation.

Thanks.  Since this is dealing with information from three months ago, I will have the client look at current information.  If it is an issue, then I will use this handy trick.
