I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to sit in on this - someone please provide a summary! March 21 webcast: Let's boost your Sage Payment Solutions pipeline together

I am probably not going to make it either unless it's audio only - I'm off doing actual work on-site at a customer today. They seem to imply that this is a sneak peak at a customer promo/webcast that is happening in April.

Spend more time on more learning to sell SPS for Sage so you can earn enough commission for an upgrade to Biggie Fries... Folks, toll takers are making more than us now...

On commissions maybe, not on services.

How many hours of services are involved in hooking up SPS? How much time do you truly spend going back and forth helping out sage's direct sales folks?

    Zero svcs with SPS

This is a credit card 101 for dummies presentation. They're pitching you on sending emails and posting web links to an April seminar. Nothing to see here.

Some enhancements in the next release

    Thanks for the updates!

Interesting that they are making a big deal out of the ability to print the CC information on the SO invoice to show that it has been paid in full (second most requested enhancement). We've been doing this for several years now by tweaking the Crystal report..........

    Me too!

    Me too!

  • 13.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

.... and anyone want to take bets on whether this feature (add CC# to SO invoice) will require a manual addition by the VAR to the form? ...

  • 14.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 04:42
Well, it will for sure if the form has been customized.

  • 15.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 05:47
I thought the cc numbers were no longer going to be available. How will you put them on the invoice??

  • 16.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 05:48
@ThereseLogeais Only the last 4 digits.

  • 17.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 05:49
Hmm, I didn't know they would still have the last 4 digits. Thanks @MarkKotyla!

Currently, my ""enhancement"" says ""Paid with Visa # XXXXXXXX-1234. If the number isn't available, I have to put my thinking cap on and maybe put all X's. Good point.

  • 19.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 05:54
I'm guessing that will be the case, as that's what's currently available. Otherwise, how else will customers know which card was used? They said Sage Exchange will write back info to MAS 90, so writing back the last 4 seems harmless enough.

  • 20.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 06:57
Website Pipeline (the eBiz people) do not send the cc number back to MAS - only 1111's. I ordered something online a while back (not from the WP site, btw) and my email receipt said ""Paid with credit card ending in 1111"" which I thought was odd. I wouldn't be surprised if there is no unique identifier from Sage Exchange.

  • 21.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 07:07
Interesting. Might as well just say ""Paid by credit card."" Seems like the 1111 just invites inquiries.

  • 22.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 07:10
Wouldn't be surprised if we're all hard coding a 4 character UDF...

  • 23.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 07:14
I had a customer add a UDF to enter the entire cc no. in so they wouldn't have to ask again. (It wasn't me, btw. I would never do anything so devious... :)

Just remember that under security rules in the case of a data breach - the company may be liable for costs. And in such a case they would likely ""forget"" that the favor they may have asked to store data was ill advised. This is a potentially dangerous area.

  • 25.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 07:42
That's why I didn't do it. I told them the risks and said I didn't recommend it but he was savvy enough to do it on his own.

  • 26.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 07:44
He's one of those customers who does all his upgrades, etc. on his own and only calls when he has messed something up. He comes to the user group meetings we hold every so often, which is where he talked about the cc issue.

  • 27.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 07:46
I'm so paranoid that I won't take customer data with me and I discourage them from sending it to Sage as well.

  • 28.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 07:59
Do you take printed data with you such as financials/DTR's/etc. that you have to do something with? I do and they often email things to me but I tend to shred them when I am done.

  • 29.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

    Posted 03-22-2012 08:03
I try to keep as much info on their servers as possible but yes sometimes I get emailed info. I'm not responsible for what they send however if I ask for a copy of data I'm paranoid that if it's lost I may be held responsible...

  • 30.  RE: I'm sure Wayne will cover this but I am unable to

You are a bit paranoid, aren't you? Maybe I'm not paranoid enough...
