I'm finally kicking GotoAssist to the curb effective 1/1/26 - what are you happily using?

After years of clients not really wanting a remote unattended service on their servers I've finally decided that I don't need the $660/year GotoAssist service. This fee actually went down to a "wait, wait - don't cancel yet" price of $330 when I cancelled. I still think that for my remote usage ( almost entire client provided VPN ) that I can get away with something far cheaper.

    My main requirements:
    - MFA
    - Unattended remote (even though most clients don't want this I might have one or two that do)
    - Not self-hosted
    - Would be great if the remote user did not have to be a local admin to let me into their computer

Right now I'm looking at Splashtop Pro which appears to allow for up to 10 unattended computers for $99/yr

    Any other thoughts?

    Logmein123.com (Rescue) works rather well.

We moved from Go To Assist to Screen Connect but customers do not like that they cannot pick any available rep anymore to connect without calling or emailing us.  Another company I work for uses Beyond Trust and that works really well.

Thanks everyone - I'm narrowing my focus around Splashtop primarily because the pricing is $99/year which allows for up to 10 remote unattended computers per license. I don't install remote unattended for many clients ( most insist on VPN with MFA ) so my use case is primarily for adhoc remote sessions.

GotoAssist had gone up to $660 per year ( when I cancelled they offered $330 ).

Thanks for the feedback - I probably won't make this change until Nov/Dec 2025 when my GotoAssist contract is ending.

HI All, I found DWSservice.   I use it to connect to some personal clients/friends.   It is free.  But you can pay to have a faster access speed.

Has anyone used the built-in connection available in Windows 11 (maybe 10, I don't know)?  I've had a couple of IT companies use it with ME when I had to get support from them, and it seemed to be OK (and free!).

I've used Quick Assist a few times to connect with a team member (when GTA wasn't working on their machine for some reason).  The interface is a bit clunky, but does work OK.  You have to be logged in to a MS account in order to generate a code (to send to the user).

A cool tool when all else fails. Some IT departments block the pre-loading of it. I've used this as a backup plan in cases where the client couldn't install my local remote connection.

We also moved to ScreenConnect from GoToAssist, but pricing isn't much better for ScreenConnect.  This feels like a really good topic for discussion at MOTM even if it is an informal meeting amongst the attendees willing to share what they are using, what features they like, what features are missing, what issues they have from time to time, and what price they are paying.  I would love to find something free that is secure and works easily.  Does that exist?

I use ScreenConnect too.  I think it is unlimited unattended remote hosts for $540 a year.  It's easy to use.  There's a less expensive plan.. around $350 a year and you get 10 unattended remote hosts.

I'd be in for a formal-or-informal conversation, but I have to warn everyone that I'm the biggest ScreenConnect fan in the world...
