I'll be upgrading a client's FAS50 v2008.1 to 2012

I'll be upgrading a client's FAS50 v2008.1 to 2012.1 (or 2012.1.1). 2008.1 is installed on an XP workstation. She is moving to Windows 7, so I'm trying to build an upgrade path. One option is do all the upgrading on XP to get them current, then install on W7. The data is stored on the server. I'd prefer to leave the current installation alone and do everything on W7. Does anyone know the earliest version that is compatible with W7? Or have words of wisdom on an upgrade strategy?

Barabara the below is from our FAS person. FAS 50 v2010.1 is the first version compatible with Windows 7. Support said that due to an issue with depreciation, you need to do all of the incremental updates (otherwise won't calc depreciation correctly). Support confirmed that you can upgrade to 2010.1 on XP and then do the rest of the updates on Windows 7, but said to make sure to backup in between every incremental update just in case. Incremental updates between v2008.0 to 2012.0: on XP machine: 2008.1, 2008.2 2009.0, 2009.1 2010.0, 2010.1 on win7: 2011.0, 2011.1 2012.0

@RonGouveiaCPACITP are you saying you have to do EVERY incremental update?? I find that so unbelievable and ridiculous....

I agree. It sure sounds ridiculous but that is the response that we got from Sage FAS support.

@RonGouveiaCPACITP, Thanks!! Luckily, the client has been collecting the CD's. And everytime I've upgraded one of these, I've had to install all the updates. Thought maybe by the time they got to 2010.1 you wouldn't have to keep converting, but noooooooo...

We got an updated response from Sage today saying that only the following incremental updates are necessary. Hard to know what to believe. 2008.1 2008.2 2009.1 2010.1 2011.1
