If you would please jump into your way-back-machine and recall 3.23. I have a new client (guess what - they are cheap) that sees a need to upgrade their business to Sage 100 V2016. They have been quoted. I know I have seen inquiry on the forum but I cannot find a search that returns one of these prior requests. I think I can go 3.23 to 3.71 to 2016. All Standard version. I believe I have seen 90minders say there needs to be another stop between 3.71 to 2016 but thought I had success previously without. Thoughts? What are the concerns/reasons for stop. Obviously a lot of verification will need to happen (starting with GL balances).

I just saw a KB article addressing this. It might have been attached to a footnote on a supported versions KB article. Off the top of my head I'd say 3.71 then 2016. I think the KB article had an interim step after 3.71 but I don't think it explained why.

I normally go v3.71, to v4.05, to the v.201x. Yet, I've seen many others not stop at v4.05 and things were fine.

Any reason you stop at 4.05 other than prior success? I know I have gone from 3.71 to a variety of versions. A matter of fact I am so glad many of my clients were able to skip 4.10. What a mess that was.

I thought the only issue was a sales tax file in the mid 3's. Otherwise, I've gone 3.71 to latest version with no issues multiple times.

When I started the ""old to new process"" the decision was made based on the GL changes between v4.0 and v4.05. I truly don't believe it is needed any longer.

Larry, from 3.23 I think there were some Inventory changes at 3.61, then go to 3.71 then any 4x Version after that, just more Utilities to run and time needed.

I have converted from 3.7x to 2016 without issue but if you are coming from 3.23 I would upgrade to the tax change that @BethBowers mention. If I recall we needed to do that before we upgraded to 3.7x from that version. Then from 3.7x I would take it to 2016.

I have always stopped at 3.41, which is when AP Sales Tax came in.

I vaguely recall a stop at 3.51, depending on modules installed. I think it was Inventory related.

Wow @LarryBradford - Did you convince them to move off their Win 95 workstations and Novell server as well? Having read through the various threads, there are a lot of potential pitfalls migrating 16 levels (or so). Good luck!!!!!

They have decided to purchase the software and upgrade themselves... They will call IF they have a problem.

I usually don't touch a clients attempt to upgrade, If the screw is up I will tell them I will start from the beginning, you never will know what step they left out.
