If you are running or recommending any type of big social media project to customers or internally -- please never fall into this trap that Sage fell into with Summit. When you create pages on your web site - avoid these plugins like you would avoid the porta-potty at the county fair on a mid-August summer day. a. They don't work on mobile (where much of your traffic will come from) b. They may not work across all browsers If it needs a plugin -- especially flash -- it's not worth the trouble. The site in question is: http://sage2012.nuveminc.net/Pages/Wall.aspx And, yes, it might work for you on your Windows computer. Does not work on Google Chrome on my Mac or on the iPad/iPhone (and presumably all variations of Android though I did not test). I mean this is just crazy to spend money on these dumb projects that probably look great on the whiteboard in your office but aren't worth a damn in practice. .02

And, yes, I did click to upgrade the Silverlight plugin - which kept looping me through an ""update this"". Whether it's my browser, MAC, or simply the effects of a full moon - my point is that these integrations relying on plugins are not a good idea any longer. I believe the integrations are largely ""sold"" to customers based on recommendations of web developers who learned to use them ages ago and just can't ""move along"" to learn updated technology...

Yea, the problem is it's Microsoft Silverlight. Which Microsoft has even admitted is a failure and is even far less prevalent than Flash. Microsoft is quietly killing Silverlight From: do-not-reply@socialcast.com [mailto:do-not-reply@socialcast.com] On Behalf Of Wayne Schulz Sent: Friday, June 08, 2012 7:18 AM To: Mark Chinsky Subject: [90 Minds Consulting Group] wall

If you are being pitched a web development project - pull out your iPad. If you cannot view the content throw the people out of your office. Totally serious. People still creating content not visible on iOS and other platforms are both incompetent and screwing you.

True, although I will say when I look at the Google statistics on our main website number of non-Windows and Mac browsers is still an extremely small percentage of overall page views

I think if Sage is counting on using this feature during a conference - they got ripped off. I bet the percent of users who connect via iPad and/or smartphones is sky high during the conference (when this is most likely to be used). And I still say if some developer is pitching anything for the web which cannot be viewed on an iPad or smartphone - run run run run -- because there's a developer who has not updated their skills and is living in the deep dark past.

I updated Silverlight on my Windows 7 computer and now instead of a blank gray screen I have a blank white one. Shouldn't this ""wall"" at least have a spray paint tool?
