If I remove the 000 warehouse records from IM_Item

  • 1.  If I remove the 000 warehouse records from IM_Item

If I remove the 000 warehouse records from IM_ItemWarehouse, am I going to regret it? 000 is not the default warehouse for any module and the client keeps accidentally picking it because it is listed first. I'd like to just remove it from existence but wanted to check if I was going to be very, very sad afterwards.

    1. Make sure 000 is **not** the default warehouse on any items 2. Make sure there are no orders SO, PO, WO, etc. that are referencing this warehouse. 3. Have the users ever shipped out of 000 in error too? That will create history. 4. Nothing on hand in 000 right? 5. Setup options PO and SO change default warehouse code to a non-""000"" code.

I think I did that on an older version and DID regret it... but that may have been prior to 4.4. If they can hold on a little longer, the Inactive Warehouse thing is supposed to be part of 2018, isn't it? Maybe 2018.1?

Oh, boy. I'm not sure I'd do that. Make sure there are no records in 000 (I bet there are), in which case, I wouldn't do it. In this case, I'd get a Master Developer to look at not allowing that warehouse to be chosen in those few areas where users tend to choose warehouses. Someone could probably also do a script, probably. @BethBowers -- I think you're right--Sage is supposed to have that available. Sometime...

Oh - add to the above list: 1. PO and SO setup options, update the default warehouse code to a non 000 code. @RobertaChase I've done this before, but for a company that was newer to Sage so there wasn't too much to deal with. If @KateKrueger customer has many transactions agree would think through it. She can always test on a test company code first.

Kate can you customize the warehouse lookups they use with a filter to Not Equal 000 or set to Greater Than 000?

I deleted records out of IM_ItemWarehouse once and had a number of problems. If you want to remove a warehouse you have to make sure that you delete all records in all files IM_Warehouse, IM_ItemWarehouse, IM_ItemCost, etc. There's also an extended solution you can use - IM-1046 which merges warehouse records. You could merge those records into another warehouse code (example: merge 000 into 001) and then just go into Warehouse Maintenance after running the utility and delete the warehouse all together.

Thanks everyone - You've confirmed that this is not to be taken lightly. De-activate warehouse can't come soon enough! In the mean time I will script something that will prevent the selection of the 000 warehouse and test removing everything from a test company. Thank you!!

Hello Kate, You can remove these records naturally in Item Maintenance once the transaction record has cleared. The risk is at least twofold as follows: The IM_ItemWarehouse record may have an on hand quantity associated with it, and hence represent Inventory Value. Additionally the record indicates there are records in the Transaction table associated with it. I do not recommend this approach. Regards! Change one of the other warehouse codes to being called 000 (transfer the inventory in...)? If the problem is that the default value 000 is being used incorrectly, that won't change when the default shifts from 000 to 001. You'd just have problems with a different code.
