If I have to listen to one more fricking accountant bitch about the AP Aging not tying to the GL or not being able to age the Trial Balance, I will projectile vomit.

If one more person calls and tells me they can't balance their bank reconciliation on the computer - I will join you. (Tip: These people can't balance it on paper either).

@WayneSchulz one of my all time frustrating support calls is when the users calls and says they there is something wrong with the bank rec module.... Because they can't get it to balance...... They then expect me to be able to balance it for them over the telephone.... Efen plug it doll.

FWIW, when I was sitting on that side of the desk as an accountant/controller, my A/P and A/R aging reports ALWAYS tied to the G/L. thphpthphphthphpthphtphp It's just a matter of internal policy and procedure.

I've had users call wanting to know how they can go back and get 12 months of bank recs because they haven't closed anything but now the accountant is asking. It's a fine line between support and becoming their bookkeeper.

@LouWagner - so you didn't enter any invoices for the new month until every last stinkin' rotten invoice for the prior month had been received?

As long as the month of the invoice date matches the month of the posting date, it's fine. So if they're entering a November dated invoice as of December 1, they should just change the invoice date to 12/1. I know, I know - I've heard all the arguments but I've found the world doesn't come to an end if that happens. They can override the due date if they want but my argument is if they got it late, they should take full advantage of terms anyway.

@BethBowers, @MaryJoKrueger Beth, we did what Mary Jo said. Just made dang sure my people were entering invoices in A/R and A/P with the same date as the system/module date. That meant that for a few days at the beginning of each month, we separated everything into different entry batches depending on the invoice date. Where things really got hairy was when we were doing receipts of goods entry and receipt of invoice entry in the PO system. Don't even get me started..........

Way too much work for month end!!! Maybe for quarter end and probably for year end but month end????? Do a je and move on. Add value to the process. Close enough is good enough for month end!!!

@JeffSchwenk , it's been long enough that I don't recall, but I also don't recall ever having a problem with the PC reports.

OMG, this accountant will not stop. Now he's whining ""but why does your other product Peachtree work and this does not?"". Really, dude? Really? You have nothing better to do with your time than whine about the AP Aging ad nauseam?

@BethBowers my best suggestion at this point is to start drinking heavily. :-) That said, though, I recall that I never ran the A/R or A/P trial balances for a lot of years when I was a numbnutz accountant. Never even knew what it was which was the impetus for making the aging reports balance to the G/L. I know that probably doesn't help you gastrointestinally, but at least, it may help shed some light on his dogmatic view of how things are ""supposed to work."" Good luck.
