If company A has GL segments 4-1-3, and company B has 4-2, and the client wants to import the chart of accounts from company A into company B, does any one have any ideas?(Note - company B is a production company and not going any where and the segments cannot be changed)

Use GL Exchange to export then import the accounts. In-between, edit the Excel file for the new masking.

If you're not going to change Company B, then you'll need to export A, modify it to make it 4-2 and import. Will these be all new accounts or are there similar accounts? If then bringing in transactions or even for a backup, you'll want a mapping worksheet for vlookups. Backup/Backup/Backup the data!

I would export all that data to Excel, massage it so its what you want and use VI to import the main + sub accounts + full main accounts.
