If a customer is Sage100c and they want to quit us

If a customer is Sage100c and they want to quit using one or two modules in Sage100 can they still have ""read"" capabilities? I know with perpetual licensing in the past, if a customer wanted to stop using a module I would have to remove all the data in all company codes and uninstall the module and send Sage the installed application list to prove the modules were uninstalled. Today a client called and told us that they closed the only company using purchase order and Bank Reconciliation, but still have other company codes in Sage 100. They want to stop paying maintenance on P/O B/R but want to know if they can still be able to look up purchase order information in that historical company. Since they are on Sage100c it seems logical that they would still be able to have read only access. but ""logical"" and ""Sage 100"" don't always play well together. Has anyone done this?

Hi @DavidOverholt - this could only work for PO if it was added as a module for the Essentials Bundle. Otherwise, PO is included in the bundle for Advanced and Complete. Bank Rec is included in all bundles.

So are you saying they won't be able to remove those modules from their subscription? I guess that makes sense.

    Yes, that is correct.

well, forgive me but I need change the rules **(because I completely misunderstood what another consultant explained to me)** The client is up for renewal (perpetual license); they are looking at the perpetual pricing but they don't use Bank Rec, Inventory, Purchase Order and Sales Order modules for any live company; however, they do have historical data in those modules for a company they closed. So we are wondering if they go with Subscription would it make those modules ""read only

That's an interesting one. I'm not sure. On the one hand, it seems like if you went with the Essentials Bundle you would still have access to Bank Rec since it is included in the bundle, and you would expect IM, PO and SO to be read only. On the other hand, it is possible you won't even be able to access IM, PO and SO since the Essentials Bundle doesn't include access to those modules. I have not done this one before. Sorry!

my thinking exactly. if none of the 90Minds have tested this, I will give Sage a call tomorrow; but I'm not sure I would trust their answer without some testing.

I may be oversimplifying this, but when you do their next parallel upgrade, couldn't you leave the old install available so users that need to access those modules can and the new install wouldn't include those modules? You'd only need to license the new modules for the upgraded version. You could update security in the old version to keep it ""read-only"".

Even if Sage says it's OK (or even if they know - marketing and management don't really seem to know what is in the code), and even if it tests ok in 2018, there is no guarantee the rules won't change in 2019...

I'm going with no - when you put in the keys for the bundle only the modules activated by the keys will show up. You''ll need to have the module included in the bundle to do anything with the data. Also, be cautious with that separate version as lookup concept. Sage pushes keys so at some point the old keys may get updated.

@WayneSchulz that is a great point about keys getting auto updated. You just save me some testing.
