I went down and had dinner with Scott Hickman and John Hoyt last night. I'm of the opinion we should start an Acumatica group inside the 90 Minds Socialcast sooner rather than later. In fact, it would be good if we could set it up this week before those who stayed for the training leave Orlando. I got this message from Scott this morning: I was just approached by Acumatica to have 90 minds be responsible for their online forums. Ie., they will maintain their support like ""BOSS"" type and other content through our site. This is really a good conversation and they are very open. I told them that we are all meeting at the end of the month and will discuss this internally. WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY for our group! Devil in the details! What's the process we should be going through to make this decision?

Works for me. What is their timeframe? As you say, the devil is out there in the details. At this point, we could probably wait till SD to discuss in depth. Maybe invite them to be part of that discussion.

Yes I think we should add other publishers. If we don't, someone else will. Guaranteed. If there's a strong desire to stay Sage 100 until the bitter end - split off the non-Sage 100 stuff (The bitter end is closer than you think / want to believe). WRT to Acumatica having 90 Minds be ""responsible"" for Acumatica online forums - yeah, I think the devil is in the details. I suspect they either want that to be public or in some other place their VARS could easily join? I guess a better idea of what Acumatica would want. I'm guessing they would not be interested in funding an area where competitors would have equal footing, etc.

The conversation Scott had with Acumatica was completely informal. Hoyt, Scott, and Rob Neal are planning on having dinner with Tim Rodman tonight and have another conversation with them in more detail. I'm thinking we should be prepared to have a conversation with Acumatica more formally at MotM so working out some of the details beforehand would be a good idea. Adding Acumatica seems like a no brainer to me at this point whether it's with or without Acumatica's formal blessing.

FWIW Dawn has been asking this for the past two years.

Also remember - deal with people who have spend authority -- learned this lesson from Sage. Unless the group will volunteer their time to create and nurture this.

Absolutely! I'm with you and think we do it whether or not they are actively participating. If we can get a subsidy from Acumatica, we should treat that as gravy to do what we want to do anyway.

I think it is a great idea plus will likely add some new membership opportunities

I talked extensively to Scott about this. He has started a private chat with Shawn Slavin, John Hoyt and Jeff Roth. They'll have a first meeting this Friday and I'll try to give them some pointers as to what I think may help get this type of group moving forward. From the standpoint of 90 Minds, I think it's important to decide on the importance of diversifying and how much resources the group wants to devote (or not). I believe if 90 Minds does not do something that the group of Acumatica folks will likely split off.
