I think the answer is no, but can a client change a GL journal entry description after its posted?

DFDM............. What does your client think he is using - QuickBooks????

We are talking just descriptions, not amounts. DSD actually sells a utility for this, but it is 'quickbooks' like in that it allows you to change posting amounts etc, which is scary. FYI, SAP B1 allows you to change the descriptions after the fact (with a full change log audit trail...)

I was just typing both answers. Here an 5 old blog that Wayne did on the Dsd. GL detail editor. All still relevant. http://www.s-consult.com/2008/10/15/edit-general-ledger-detail-with-dsds-gl-detail-editor/. Regarding the audit trail. What would you like it to do instead on how it is working now.

Now you can't change the description. (FYI, I found the DSD utility thanks to wayne's blog :) ) If you could change it, it should show what it was and what it became, but the client could live without that.

And it should (and might) be able to require a special password or right to be able to change anything about the entry that would have a fiscal impact.

Mark. We might be open to modifying it. I will talk to Jon today about it. What is your timeframe on it?

Just an initial inquiry from a client, so don't waste any cycles on it yet. Thanks.
