I think that this has come up before but just in case. Today I learned that if you adjust an open AP invoice to zero - and both the invoice and the adjustment have these dates: Invoice Date: 6/30/2018 Transaction Date: 7/15/2018 And you run an AP Aged Invoice report with cutoff (exclude future dated transactions) 6/30/2018 then the aging will show the invoice as open. If you run the cutoff as 7/15/2018 then the balance will show zero The reason seems to be that the AP Aged Invoice (presumably AR too) uses the invoice date from invoices and the transaction date from adjustments when you ask it to cut-off (exclude future) as of a date. This only seems like an issue around year-end if you are trying to get a clean cutoff. I think this is a longstanding issue/method of Sage's and only comes up about once every 3-4 years with one of my users. It just happened to come up today.

Yes. Frequently I recommend adjusting an invoice out and then if having to post the original balance to a new period to create an invoice with an A or something after the invoice number to ensure reporting is as desired.

That's what Sage recommends, too - always use a new invoice number. But when your dates are in the future, it's just a gigantic PIA all around. The issue isn't really the files - they are technically correct - it's how they gather the data for the reports.
