I searched through social cast and cannot find anything new about Budget and Planning (Previously called Active Planner). What I found said it was expensive and cumbersome to implement. Anyone want to confirm or revise?

Expensive is relative. If compared to Excel; it's expensive. If compared Profix, Adaptive Planning, Budget Maestro, or Solver, not so much. That said, all of the aforementioned products have much bigger install bases and much bigger R&D budgets. Hard to go wrong with Adaptive. Solver is a 90 Minds member and a good option as well, especially if you are looking for a reporting alternative to Sage Insights.

Sage B&P is expensive and cumbersome to implement. I sold it to a good customer. We *HAD* to hire one of their recommended consultants to implement because it's impossible to understand. Truly. My customer abandoned it after one year because even though it was implemented, it was too cumbersome for their staff. They bought Centage Budget Maestro, which was less expensive and much more elegant. I sat through the Solver BI360 webinar the other week and I'm very impressed with its budgeting capabilities.

Be careful if your customer has a 13 period year. Some budgeting software will only do 12 periods.
