I placed an order for 1 additional ""Advanced"" user

I placed an order for 1 additional ""Advanced"" user license on Friday. The order confirmation I received has a list price of $1,960. Before I quoted the client Friday morning, I downloaded the latest price list from the mysagesell.com site. The price list has an additional Advanced user at $1,655. The web site is useless if I have to call and get a quote from Sage every time I need a quote.

I suggest sending the price list to your RSM and ask them why there is a difference. I would also point out it is not that clear, if they point out a reason. They may give you what you thought it should be.

Thanks @JohnHoyt .. Good idea. If I knew who my RSM was this week I would do it right now. I will follow up on Monday.

It has been useless for the past five years. I NEVER quote a customer before getting a quote from Sage..... Suffered from one too many third degree burns...

From the ""Price List"" tab, the $1,960 is for EES customers for 11-15 users. $1,655 is under Module Based Pricing for 6-30 users. On the ""New Sale Order Form"" tab, there are no options for EES, so only the $1,655 is shown. @DougHiggs Is your customer an EES?

Good catch. No, the customer is not on EES. There must be a mistake.

You win, @DougHiggs. You have to watch Sage like a hawk, because they do make mistakes.

I reviewed the 100c price list. I takes so much time to click all the right boxes, I think I'll call Sage for quotes and let them spend the time.

Yes sir. It seems like I am going to have to do the same.

I always get quotes from Sage, and they rarely if ever match up to the price sheet.

Sage needs an on-line pricing tool that is date sensitive for changes and references the customer record. Unfortunately, it would most likely be as bad as the current portal.

Sad. If you can't even keep your selling prices on your web site current, it is difficult to have confidence in anything. This is why I stopped shopping at the local grocery store. The product on the shelf is marked $5 and when I check out they charge $6. If it happens enough you question all of the pricing. When I have to audit every product when I check out it is time to change stores.

And then there's the anti-Sage: http://xtuple.com/products/pricing And no, you don't need a login...

Exactly what we need, @PhilMcIntosh. In addition to anyone having access to it, their formulas and options are simple and the pricing is very reasonable.

Apparently the user was on EES. They have a 15 user CRM license and don't even know it. Because they are grandfathered, the maintenance is the same as ""regular"" Sage 100 Advanced (supposedly.. I haven't yet verified this). So much for simplified pricing.

@DougHiggs Are they using Sage Fixed Assets? Are they paying maintenance on the CRM and not using it? I had some weirdness on an EES customer who went to 100 Premium and was using CRM and no licenses were showing up (they are using it), and no Fixed Assets (they are not using that). Sage reinstated the CRM no charge, but their explanation was bizarre...

They are using fixed assets... Well, they want to. I just installed it for the first time last week. I was told today by Jennifer that even though they have CRM licenses they don't have to pay maintenance on them because the are grandfathered into something. They do get screwed when they purchase additional user licenses. In this case adding one user lists for $1960 instead of $1655.

If I recall, there's something odd too about those EES keys. I once ""upgraded"" a customer to EES because Sage screwed up on the pricing (in the customer's favor) and my memory is the keys wouldn't work for non-EES. My thought process was that the keys would be somehow interchangeable but from memory I don't think they were/are. If you have an idea of upgrading to a non-EES version just be sure to double check that the keys for EES will work.

We went live Sept 21 on an upgrade from 4.5 to 5.2. I didn't even realize they used to be EES. This was a ROR change to me about 5 years ago. This is very strange. They didn't even realize they have 15 CRM licenses. Interesting because I believe they may have one or two sales reps.
