I noticed a few web sites that for some odd reason are using plugins to render graphics and all sorts of flashing Doo-Dads on their home page. Two big problems: 1. Silverlight isn't compatible with Google Chrome on MAC - so cross off visitors from your list of prospects who will turn away when they get all manner of bizarre ""download Silverlight"" prompts but cannot do so. But actually I wouldn't worry since Apple and Google are little bitty niche companies and hardly anyone uses them .... 2. These plugins either don't work on mobile or where add-ins are available they are very slow (or only a tiny percent of mobile users are adventurous enough to load a plugin or use an alternate browser on mobile). Maybe it's just me - but increasingly I feel like these folks get screwed by web developers who should point this out. http://erplife.com/2012/06/14/you-got-screwed-tips-for-web-design/

Sage is using Silverlight for their face wall or people wall -- or whatever they call it. Problem is that Silverlight is wholly incompatible with iOS AND Android. Nobody who is using a mobile device at the conference will be able to access the wall. Perhaps it's just me but I tend to see more iPads, iPhones and Android devices at conferences than people roaming with laptops.

Tragic mistake that could have been avoided.
