I know that we've talked about this company merge/consolidation utility from ASI -- has anyone used it? I have a v4.5 users with three companies looking to consolidate them by 1/1/15. Although they don't want to bring over balances I figure I could use this utility, create the consolidated company then just use Sage's master file transfer to copy only the master info without balances. Here's the manual http://www.asifocus.com/wp-content/help/con/ Product site: http://www.asifocus.com/products/additions-for-sage-100-erp-mas90-mas200/company-consolidation/

Great stuff. I used it for merging three v4.5 companies into one. Went fairly smoothly. It checks for duplicate vendor, customer, inventory numbers to avoid unwelcomed merges. Pretty comprehensive. After client merging was finished, I sent suggestion e-mail off to them. Not sure if any suggestion made it into production, but they seem to welcome the thoughts. BTW, we do have ASI as a SC member...

Thanks guys! @JeffSchwenk - I am pretty sure your suggestions were used to enhance the product, so thank you very much for that. I emailed Wayne after he had visited our website, and I explained to him that there the majority of the work is on the front-end, pre-merge. You can use this utility as many times as you want, so we always suggest simply installing it, setting up the consolidated company and which companies will be merged and run it. Then, review the data. It most likely will have problems and those problems will be the data that needs to be cleaned up in your source companies before you run it again. Then, repeat these steps until you've got the data ready for the live consolidation. It really is a very complex, comprehensive and valuable utility. In fact, you cannot do what this utility does with just VI. You would have to have a developer write some programs to at least handle the keys and sequences numbers especially in GL. OK, enough chest-pounding here for ASI. It is a very good product, and we want any and all feedback to make the product even better.

I also have a client that is planning to consolidate 2 companies into one ""soon"", although I'm not sure when ""soon"" is exactly. They were planning to do it manually and perhaps with some import exports, so I'm going to have them look at this also. I sent them a copy of the manual as a teaser.

Honestly (@BrianKelly , I will let you know where to send my commission), this really is a no brainer decision. I merged three companies with little heartache. Granted, we knew 12 months earlier this was going to happen so the GL structures were set up with one GL in mind. You can practice the consolidation many times over, you get edit reports advising you where the problems are located. I think the biggest issue I had was with the GL structures when I tried to avoid work with the 9 character account key. My bad. Support is top notch.

@BrianKelly - got this approved. Once they show me the money we'll be placing an order.

Having gone through the challenge of merging companies without a utility I will definitely look to use the utility next time! should have done a little digging on this. Although they went from two separate companies to one company with two divisions. Would the merge utility allow for that?

What you would have to do is set up both companies with divisions the way want them to look in the merged company.

The one I'm working on wants a blank merged company so I plan to merge them use master file copy to get an empty company.

@alanniergarth ditto what @JeffSchwenk wrote. In that situation, I would make a copy of both companies first. In the copy companies, I would turn on divisions. For the first one, I would renumber all of the divisions from 00 to 01, for example. In the second company, I would renumber all of them from 00 to 02. I like to have division 00 as a corporate or overhead division. If you are keeping AP and AR separate, turn on divisions in those module and again, renumber accordingly. Then, consolidate the two companies so that all of your data from each company is kept separate in their respective divisions.
