I know, I know - problem with billing by the hour - but that last paragraph still makes me furious. Email from client this morning about fixing Inventory with zero quantity but small extended cost: My problem is that I have several items, many of which are discontinued, that I cannot fix in the new process and are not visible in the IM_ITEMCOST_M4T FILE. Can you please fix them or point me to the file name so that I can fix them? I figure this would take you 15-30 minutes.

I would spend 15 minutes to locate and send them the KB article on the Inventory Balancing tools.

Not trying to pick a scab here but I think the customer is trying to communicate her perception of the value to fix by giving you a time frame. My response would be to give her your estimate to fix (sticking with the T&M method here) and ask if she wants to spend that amount on it. If you don't have enough information to give a solid estimate, tell them that and offer to investigate for X dollars in X time. If at the end of that time, you don't have a fix, you will probably have better info to set an estimate for completion. If not, wash, rinse, and repeat.

On a related topic, if we can get enough to sigh up, we can crowd source a utility to fix this nagging issue. See below. https://90minds-com.socialcast.com/messages/32476622?ref=stream
