I just had a friend that is a sole practitioner severely injured in an accident. He had major head trauma. His family was obviously a mess and somehow found my business card. His brother called me hoping that I was someone that he could trust.
We told him that we would help them in anyway that we could but you could still feel a little concern. Fortunately he regained some level of consciousness and told his family that he was pleased that we were helping him.
The purpose of the post - if you are sole practitioner - make sure that your family knows how you would like things handled in your business in case you have a tragic accident. Items like a contact name of another trusted friend/reseller, passwords to your various accounts, a method to obtain a client list and a contact at Sage. You might even consider writing a letter that expresses these wishes so everyone's mind would be at ease.
Not so much of a problem for those with multiple people in their organizations but I know several work by themselves.
Lastly - hug your loved ones - things/lives can change quickly....
