I just emailed Vineyardsoft AGAIN as to when the version 8.1 of KnowledgeSync will be released. So far I've been asking since December when they said it will be out ""soon"" and none of my emails are being answered. Does anyone know if perhaps they are going out of business?

I hope not - just sold it to someone. But I think something is up with Tricia Cate because my only responses come from Don Farber.

Well they are refusing to answer my question. Something doesn't smell right.

Sounds like a typical Sage response - what is the great expectation with v8.1?

My customer's KnowledgeSync application just randomly stops sending out emails. Support has said they are aware of the issue and it will be fixed in version 8.1. This was back in December when 8.1 was apparently ""in testing"" and to be released ""soon"".

I finally got a response at 9:33 pm from Vineyardsoft's Chief Technical Officer. Version 8.1 is due out May 1st and they are confident they will make this date.

I have a similar issue. What are your symptoms? Error zero in the pending log? I hate the hoops you have to hope through to get a tech to dial in and clear the blockage...... Have another client that will only send one e-mailout of many. The log says they were sent so I have been suspicious restrictions on the client's exchange server..

Never had that problem. Use to have it crash sometimes and when you ran task manager you could see only KS_DB running. This would mean I had to kill any KS files open which killed the service and then restart the service.

Yes that is what we are seeing; it would look like it was running but really was not fully running. We have to kill it then restart the service.

That affects our clients as well...............

This happens to our clients as well. We use it internally too, but here it only stops working when the server is rebooted. We then have to manually start it (even though it is set to automatic).

Also, I always email Don Farber and get a response within a day.

I just used the Support Ticket on their web site and had a response before I got done weeding the flowers. And I don't have many flowers and I'm not a very anal weeder, so that was FAST.

Well, May 1st has come and gone. Shows you how much to trust in their ""confidence"".

Don replied back to my inquiry that they need another 7-10 days.

Well I guess it is better to be late to the party then to release the beta code where you become the R & D department (a la Sage).

I am completely on board with Dawn's observation - where there's smoke there's usually fire.

I had a number of alerts that I received during the day and if any failed to show when expected I would check the server and restart as needed. It was never anything I attempted to ""fix"" it was just something I checked on a routine basis.

Well my client isn't content that ""this is just the way it is"". If it failed once every few months that would be one thing, but this is once every week or so.

I don't know if anyone noticed but they have had several weeks now past May 1st and the product still isn't out yet. A company that misses several deadlines isn't good at earning trust.

Now 5/30 and they still have not released a new version and are not responding to my emails requesting an update.

Maybe it's cause they are busy putting on Webinars. I hope they aren't somehow related to Hightower.

@DawnAnastasi Have you emailed anyone at Sage? May be good to give them a heads up that this is occurring on the chance that there's some problem with the company brewing...

I just got a reply back today after all my nagging. 8.1 is out, but not on the website yet. You have to call Vineyardsoft specifically for it and they will ""help"" you install it.

I told my customer that the install is being given out on a ""limited basis"" (Vineyardsoft's words) and they are nervous about upgrading since the program was delayed for so long -- they wonder what's wrong with it.

So what's the scoop? Did you install? How is it working?

Well the version 8.1 that was due out at the end of December, then was due out May 1st, then was due out mid-May, is still not out yet. Here is is almost July 1. Then they had it available as ""executables"" that got put on top of 8.0b, but they would not give them to me because the customer wanted to apply them after 5 pm and they don't work after 5 pm. So they told me to just wait until the full install is released. So I asked them, ""SO WHEN WILL THAT BE?"" Seriously!

I am pretty much fed up with Vineyardsoft. They are not responding to me and won't fix their product. This so called version 8.1 they claim is installed at 15 sites -- must be vaporware. I have asked for it multiple times and they won't give it to me and tell me to wait until it's on their website and they won't tell me when it's being published.

Dawn what does 8.1 deliver in added features and would you like me to throw/blog a yellow flag like we did with the v4.5 PU4 that was problematic? I would do so anonymously as to source.

I FINALLY got the 8.1 program files yesterday via email with instructions on applying them. The only thing I am aware of that 8.1 delivers is bug fixes. I haven't seen any sort of release guide from Vineyardsoft.

Stopped the KS service. Copied in the Executables after making a backup of the existing ones. (There were 14 of them.) Then started up the service again. Very uneventful as far as that part is concerned. What I noticed however is that the executables were dated mid-May, and I just got them now almost 2 months later!

Would you want brand spankin new executables that hadn't been tested? I can live in being a beta guinea pig but I really don't want to be an alpha tester........

Well so far since the install of 8.1 it has not hung yet.
