I have some long time customers who would save substantially on their maintenance renewals if it were calculated on the new user based pricing from Sage. But the Sage policy is to not allow this. Does charging long time customers MORE than new customers for the same thing make sense? In my view, this is ""bad revenue"".

Directv and SiriusXM have exactly the same model. Doesn't make a bit of sense.

Naturally this is the million dollar question for Sage. They'd like to transition new business and not mark down existing maintenance renewals. From what I've seen and you probably know - the only present way is to relicense. And I'd be willing to bet within a year Sage will come out with some cheaper ""migration"" offer and the customer will wonder why they relicensed...

How is maintenance less for new customers? Is the new MAS pricing lower?

@PeterWolf - Sage 100 was lowered a bit (especially the financials bundle) and I think Sage 300 raised a bit to make more of a separation in price points between 100 & 300

Interesting. I always thought that M&S (or Business Care these days) was based on current SRP of the product. I guess it's based on initial SRP at the time of purchase...

Except when that doesn't work in Sage's favor...
