I have MAS 200 prospect who wants SQL as they have standardized on SQL internally for their other systems. I am concerned because of the relative newness of SQL and because of potential limitations we may run into with 3rd party offerings that could be needed in the future. I don't think the no WO, JC, PR modules will be a problem. I'm just concerned we'll run into some gotcha with SQL so trying to decide if we proceed with SQL or strongly recommend ProvideX. Anyone have experience with MAS200 SQL or have advice in this situation?

There has been some discussion - most notable @JohnnyPabian had some observations about speed. My feeling is more along the lines of your thoughts. I would not sell it without the customer talking to a happy installed SQL customer. If they wanted to waive that step I'd be sure to point out that they were on their own about any assumptions with respect to speed, ability to write to SQL tables, rollback. All things that I think might be issues .

Thanks Wayne for the direction, I read throught the string. I'm getting the feeling there are very few SQL installs. If anyone has a satisfied MAS SQL client(s) please let me know. For that matter if you have an unsatisfied MAS SQL client(s) please let me know also.

Johnny Pabian and Dawn probably have the most experience with SQL. Might be faster for you if you just contact them directly.

My understanding is that there have been very few new account sales of SQL version in the 10 months or so it has been out. Curiouis what everyone thinks the interest from existing install base will be, given limitations with missing modules and some 3rd parties. Does anyone else have a concern that anyone moving to new SQL will be in same boat in 5 years as the people on old SQL 3.74 are today? When the next regime change occurs in 2 years and there are only a few hundred users, won't they be likely to abandon it again? Now if the strategy at some release point is for SQL to be the only option, that will be a game changer, but it will leave a lot of customers in the dust.

Fine with me. Everytime Sage abandons SQL I sell 2 or 3 new Dynamics deals to them :) Seriously, the bigger question @MikeFitzgerald is there may have been very few 'new name' sales of sql, I'd love to know how many 'new name' sales there have been for mas90 and mas200

Before somebody else asks the obvious question, how do they like it? How do you like it? How's the performance vs. MAS200 regular?

Well, it's a bad comparison at this point because the first was a start up company so they have very little data yet. The second is a company who only has GL, AR, AP, and Bank Rec. So very little data there too. So far I have had no complaints other than SMI is not out for SQL yet.
