I have been asked to determine is Sage 100 is capable of creating mid-period financials ... specifically balance sheets ... Has anyone heard of such a thing?

Maybe with Sage Intelligence, or you don't process anything after the date you want the financial for until you run the reports, but that's inefficient.

One the one occasion I was talked into creating a financial statement in Crystal, I did a custom financial that could be run for any period, even by week. It used the transactions to build the data. It ran slow. Very slow. But it did work.

I know it is weird, but they keep asking ... they want a balance sheet as of a specific date in a previous period ...

I thought about that for a quick minute... This sounds like quite a bit of work that will take forever to run and they likely won't like it.... Thanks @RobertWood lets hope it doesn't come to that...

I've done that in Sage Intelligence, and it worked fine EXCEPT where you had to get the current R/E from the IS numbers. That pretty much locked it up. Had it working in FRX just fine, though...

@BethBowers I might be inclined to make Retained Earning the inverse of the sum of the other Balance Sheet cells rather than trying to compute based on transactions.

@KathrynScofield - good thought, as long as they balance... :-)

It can be done with F9. They have a =GLTrans formula where you can pick the dates

Is this for a 52-53 week type Fiscal Year, for a Short-Year Financial Statement, or something else?
