I have another very good prospect. The only thing preventing me from running with this is the 2 million part/inventory items and 50 million Item/Vendor records. I am fairly confident this will fail in any version of Sage 100 Providex because of very sluggish performance with other clients with a half million parts. Opinions on this and the SQL versions performance? It is a startup so they don't even really have the money for a 1 or 2 user of Sage100. So maybe not a great prospect but...

So if the solution is free ERP, why would this not be the solution for every client?

Well at this point even PostBooks isn't free anymore once you get to 5 users, but that was what attracted me to xTuple back in 2009 when no one was spending anything - the services are still required to set it up properly, so if the customer can't afford much it's the publisher that gets cut out instead of us...and using Postgresql you have a real database with no license cost that runs on any OS (cuts out the windows server cost as well).

The head scratcher would be volume. I assume that 1 or 2 users would be little to no volume unless they had an external interface. If low volume - why would you have 2 million parts and 50 million Item/Vendor Records. And most importantly - how would you maintain them?

xTuple's distribution edition (paid, minimum 5 users) has an external catalog feature that works very well for this - you don't clutter up your main inventory table with items you haven't sold, but rules are set up to make it very simple to search and bring in items as you quote/sell them, and imports to update pricing when you get new prices from the vendor.

Auto Parts. They want to maintain the entire parts list to then make available on their website.

Seems like the XTuple approach would be a great enhancement for Sage 100.

@PhilMcIntosh, is this something you resell? Would you want to take on a client in DC? I am not willing to risk selling him SQL if no one knows it will work. I have a bit of issue sending him on to something other than Sage when the lead came from Sage. I know, they continue to cut me out and I continue to treat them fair.

You get leads from Sage?!?!?! I am an xTuple partner, and I mostly work remotely even with the local customers, so DC is not problem.
