I have an orphan on 2016.5 Advanced - they are struggling with the shipping department and what they deem to be mis-counts. One issue that came up is a shipment went through with, for example, 10 ordered, 5 shipped and 0 backordered.
The shippers were setup with rights to allow to change the backorder QTY which I consider a possible problem because in my testing a shipper could intentionally or unintentionally (mis-click, etc) set the backorder qty to 0 when they have edit rights to change the BO qty.
When I change the shipper rights so they cannot change BO qty - which is what I think might solve their problem - it results in the shipping interface not showing any BO qty at all. I believe this is WAD since the user cannot change the BO. It would be better if the UI showed the QTY BO but grayed it out so the shipper could see it can't be changed.
The shipping area panicked when they saw that the BO field was suddenly blank and, incorrectly I believe, presume that Sage was not back ordering any of the lines.
Hopefully, someone has dealt with this issue previously. What they'd like to do is lock out the shipper from making any changes to that BO QTY but still be able to see the QTY that is automatically back ordered.
I'd like to avoid custom programming or scripting if possible since this doesn't seem like that uncommon a request. I'm hoping that I am missing some combination that would lock out a shipper from changing the BO computation yet still allow them to view the computed BO.
