I have an end user on Sage 100 Advanced 2013 when we run physical count to zero out all inventory quantity we are left with zero on hand but there is a small inventory balance showing. Any idea why and how we can get rid of this? We look in the IM_ItemWarehouse and CI_ITem and can see the math there doesn't work either. We tried the rebuild IM as well as rebuild sorts without any change. We are trying to zero out the inventory in preparation for changing the standard UM and reimporting the values. ?

Did you run the neg tier?

No could that impact this? Seems odd that the qty is zero yet we have a value and the math of cost x qty doesn't work

I ran the report and it comes back empty

Are the items FIFO/LIFO and more than 2 decimals in cost? I've seen this happen with rounding and just used adjustment transaction to clear them out. @DianeRuth is right, running neg tier adj before inventory helps.

No it was just a thought since I had issues with that once. Doesn't make sense !

I was thinking the tier is messed up also but how do you do adjustment if you don't have any qty on hand @MoiraGoggin

@WayneSchulz what does the IM_wharehouse file say for one of the items in questions?

I had a client ask me why the valuation report showed items with zero quantity but had costs. I wish I documented what I found but I think the valuation report wasn't printing detail and there was a tier with a positive quantity and cost and a tier with negative quantity and a different cost so it added to zero. I think printing the detail or something like that showed what was happening. I wish I had a better memory.

I t shows a 0 qty, an avg cost of $3.75 and a small total value for the whse Overall it seems to be rounding. Our total for a $6 mil inventory is a variance of about $50 so we passed.

Adj when you still have qoh works, but sometimes the decimal amt makes qty look like zero but its not. You can also use IM Balance Quantity and Cost Utility for tiered items which assumes the cost tiers are correct and then 'fixes' the qty file, then adj.

Thanks everyone - appreciate the fast response. So far this appears to have worked --> run ""IM_AverageCost_utl.m4p
