I have a customer using Work Order, raw material valuation at standard cost, but actual costs fluctuate. Finished goods are lot valuation for tracking purposes, but they also do reporting on them by standard cost. They are looking for an easier way to do ""what if?"" scenarios on the finished goods standard cost for different values of the raw materials standard cost - right now there are reports they run and dump to Excel, but they are finding it time consuming to manipulate the spreadsheets. This came up when I was talking to them about Inventory Advisor, and they asked if it could do this (which it does not).

Don't know how much easier this is, but had an MD do a little mod for one of my clients where they had a Budget Cost they put on the Item, and the Budget Cost was available in the Cost Roll-up but if you chose Budget Cost as your raw cost, it ONLY rolled up into the FG Budget Cost - did not touch std. Then also had the option of using the Budget Cost on the Costed BOM Report.

I have just been playing with the Cost Rollup Register. Were there issues with it not working correctly on 4.4.03 (multi-bin and mods and reluctant to pay for upgrade)? Because I tried to manually follow through on what it did and its numbers seem way off...

There was a patch for 4.50 for the Cost Rollup Register. I'm not sure if there was one for 4.40.

@PhilMcIntosh could Explore help? Using UDFs for std cost variations you could build a query with the standard cost, UDF cost 1, cost 2, etc. and use a calculation for the scenarios (and export to Excel) or put it in a modified costed bill of material report, formatted to be Excel friendly.

Well, I had a DOH! moment when I realized that of course the BM Cost Rollup was too low - probably it didn't have the labor/burden in it. So I went to the WO Cost Rollup, and it turned $1.57 into $637,504.29. WTF??

Yeah. There was a patch for that.

If the WO Cost Rollup was that high I'd look at the labor rates and routings, and of course a patch as @RobertWood mentioned. Oh and yields too.

4.50.05 had a WO fix: Work order material costs incorrect when the cost completion method was Planned, has been corrected.
