I have a customer asking about reporting Earned Value on Projects. Has anyone worked with this on MAS90? Can it be done within MAS or is this something that requires a third party and if it does is there an integration to MAS from it?

I believe that Deltek handles this. I've never seen a MAS 90 add-on that covers EVM.

    What IS EVM?

Earned Value Management. It's a project management model whose goal is to predict the progress of a project based on how much of the project's overall value has been earned at a particular point in time. You could think of it as Issues Lists on steroids.

I had heard that Deltek handled this as well. So as far as anyone here knows there isn't a way to really do it in MAS 90. I found a document explaining it in more detail. I haven't finished reading it but it is interesting to see how it tries to make sure you don't go over budget and meet the deadlines for the project as well as the value earned at a point in time.

The closest that Sage comes to EVM would be using the old Timberline Office integrated with Primavera. As of now, Sage has no plans to include EVM functionality in the new Timberline Enterprise. No wonder Deltek kicks Sage's ass when it comes to project-oriented companies.
