I have a client who lost about a week's worth of GL entries because of a corrupt file and an irregular backup schedule. i was thinking about using their PDFs from Paperless Office to create text files and then import the data back in using GL Exchange. Has anyone ever done this before? And if so, do you have any templates or do you have any tips?

I find that converting from PDF to CSV/Excel files is very tedious, almost to the point of making it easier to just manually re-enter them, depending on how many there are. You may wish to consider using Monarch to read the data out and create the CSV for you. That assumes you're okay with setting up definitions for data extraction so YMMV.

Talk about going above and beyond for your customer, Chuck! Lou is correct; Monarch works well if you're going to attempt this.

These are approximately 50 DTRs that will need to be converted. i actually pulled a couple up in Foxit Phantom PDF reader then converted them to Excel (97-2003 not current .xlsx) and it created beautifully columned spreadsheets that can be fairly easily manipulated. The .xlsx format was a hot mess.
