I have a client this evening that was hit with the XTBL crypto locker. They are running Sage 100 Premium 2016. They have decided to wipe the server and restore ""what they can"" (meaning backup issues). Let's assume I have a good backup. Do I need to setup a ""old"" SQL instance and a ""new"" SQL instance and then Install the Sage 100 to look at the new and restore the data to the old and migrate? OR is there an easier way to get the data and Sage 100 install in harmony?

Total bummer. Not a question of if Crypto hits your client but when. Are you prepared??

All backup methods were in the environment and exposed to the virus. They have now wiped the machines so there is no paying the ransom. No backup of any of the windows folders, just the SQL databases...

I think it's doable and you're on the right path. Let me know if you need some help.

The more I thought about it, I was considering setting up the companies in an empty install and then restoring the bak files into the SQL instance. Thoughts?

I would install the new system and then restore all the Db's and see what works out. My concern would be the SOA files in the SOA folder. Not to mention all the pdf files.

All my PDFs in paperless are gone and all my custom Crystal Reports.

I just spoke with your rep on just that service. Sadly, not for this client.

@JimWoodhead , Sage says to install the database before the install. I had installed then placed the data in SQL. Once I had done this, the workstation no longer worked and reinstalling lead to errors (""failed to create sy_installation object""). These are the steps in ID 42996. The start is... Resolution Make a backup of the Sage 100 ERP SQL database and restore on New Server 1.Open SQL Server Management Studio 2.Log into Database Engine 3.Open Databases by click + 4.Make a backup of the MAS_System and MAS_XXX (XXX= company code) oRight-click each database and select Task, Backup 5.Restore the MAS_System and MAS_XXX (XXX= company code) databases on new server Install Sage 100 ERP Premium on new server and merge system files 1.Start Sage 100 ERP Premium installation on new server 2.On the Database Server Login screen, Enter Login ID and Password and click Next 3.Message Warning The installation has detected an existing MAS_System database on 'SQLServerName' Click Ok to merge your new system files with this database, or click Cancel to select a different SQL server. Click OK to merge new installation with the restored MAS_System database.
