I have a client that needs to send, on an hourly basis, sales order information (via csv file) to an external program that is located in the cloud. I was thinking that KnowledgeSync would be the best option. Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions for this?

Does anyone have a preference for either one of these ideas. Cost estimates?

I like visual cut. It is a schedule program for Crystal report and is made to do this. It is a $360 program and worth every penny. Www.milletsoftware.com. Very easy to set up and use. The support is great.

Poor man's approach: VI Export and windows scheduler to call a batch file to launch the VI job from a command line. If you need to transfer the file via ftp afterwards, it's just an extension to the batch file. I prefer the KnowledgeSync however. I'm a big fan of the tool for lots of uses. @JimWoodhead has an interesting option that I haven't tried in the past.

The reason I was thinking KnowledgeSync is because they only want the new orders. Does anyone know off hand if Website Pipeline or In-Sync can send new orders only?

Pretty sure that both can send new orders only. I think what to use depends on how much of a DIY project they want and how often/what volume they're going to send data. If it's a small quantity, not expected to grow - stick in one of the cheaper options. If it's an unsophisticated user, expecting growth - I wouldn't screw with DIY unless you have a lot of free time.

Add a UDF to the SO Header table to flag submitted SO's and then chain two VI Jobs; one export and then one import. Flag the SO's you just exported so you don't pull them again. The bigger challenge is how to handle modifications to existing SO's. KnowledgeSync will help with this but you still have to be careful as to how you identify updates that qualify for re-transmittal.

New orders shouldn't be that tough if you use the date and time created.

If you already have KS, definitely use it. Absolutely made for this task. It's only if you're trying to avoid the initial price tag/learning curve of KS that I'd look to other solutions.

I've used KS for this a few times and the cost of it should not be an issue. Was just wondering if there was a better solution. Thanks for all of the input!

Go with what you know and show the client all the wonderful things you can do with KS...

Does anyone know if the ""native"" web services that ship with Sage 100 would work for this? I have not worked with the web services that ships with Sage.

Better"" is so subjective in most cases. Whatever serves the customer best is always ""better"" but that could mean lowest overall cost, fastest service, best look, etc. Usually, though not always, if you already know KS, you'll give them ""better"" service because it will cost less and be deployed faster. Just some thoughts......
