I have a client that is processing Sales Orders and invoices for a small amount of product sales as a side to their association. They would like to fulfill a request to offer gift cards and would like to track them. I know there are options in conjunction with POS but POS is not needed at this time. I thought of using a separate division but wanted to know if someone had a more streamlined process they had followed.

SPS (sage payment services) has a gift card feature, if the client has SPS already: http://na.sage.com/sage-payment-solutions/products-services/sage-debit-and-credit-card-processing/sage-gift-card-and-loyalty-programs

@MoiraGoggin , I have put a call into Sage Payment to learn more. @BethBowers , I walked through this with the client. The issue is the client wants to manage not only the purchaser but the receiver of the gift card. They are currently managing through a spreadsheet but want better.

Hm. An Invoice to the purchaser, and a Credit to the receiver?

@BethBowers , that is where I was going with it. Except just a negative line to their invoice. I need to be able to track when it is used.

What about a UDT with the gift card # on it with a $$$ value and a script that would deduct from it? I'm sure you could sell it - that would add it to the UDT and then deduct it when you use it. @AlnoorCassim might be able to figure out a way to do this with a script.

It seems like Steve Malmgren demoed a similar concept before. Are the gift cards transferable?

As soon as we plan otherwise they will make them transferable. :) @WayneSchulz , what did you have in mind for the national accounts?

I hear ya! I suspect a solution could be created using scripting and of course the SPS option.
