I have a client that executes cycle counts. The issue for this client is that unless there is a count variance, there is no entry made to inventory transaction history (which makes sense) but the client is looking for a way to know that the item was counted. I've experimented with adding a ""last counted"" udf to CI_Item but I haven't been able to find a way for IM_Physical to update it. Does anyone else have a way of showing that an inventory item has been counted when there is no variance? Thanks!

I wonder if the Physical Count with Count Cards functionality would help at all. (Incorporated 4.40.0.5) Physical Count with Count Cards (similar to IM-1119) To assist you with conducting a physical count of diverse inventory in a large warehouse, you can now use individual count cards to collect your inventory information. This new functionality will help prevent you from counting the same inventory twice, and is useful when you have the same items located in multiple locations across your warehouse. Each count card is individually numbered, so the information can be accurately tracked, and missing cards can be easily spotted. To speed the data entry process, multiple users can enter information that's been noted on your cards. Once you've entered all your count card information, your quantities can be totaled by item for each warehouse, and you can make any necessary adjustments before finalizing your Physical Count reports.

Have you tried adding a UDF to IM_ItemWarehouse?

Thanks for your response! I've tried adding a UDF to IM_ItemWarehouse, IM_Physical, IM_TransactionHistory, etc. I can make the physical count process pull information from CI_Item but it won't push information to CI_Item. I'm thinking the only way to accomplish this would be to export the physical count files to excel and then import them to the UDF on CI_Item. I just have to sell VI to the client...

Since the only thing Physical actually updates normally is the transaction history file and the physical count file, I""m betting just using the UDF isn't going to work. Maybe some scripting, though...

I agree that a script might work. If anyone out here has the ability to write a script to push the transaction date or count date to a UDF on Ci_Item, then we might want to send some work your way. Just let me know...

Just saw this post ... I did the same thing using scripting in version 4.40 for one of my clients. The functionality was such that they clicked a button after they were done with the counts but before they updated and it would take all items in the count screen and update the current date to a UDF in CI_Item.

Hi Dawn - that sounds exactly like what my client would like! I'll email you privately to get quotes, etc! Thanks!

I suppose you could do the same thing with VI if they owned it.
