I have a client that called tonight saying that their excel report that has been working for over a year now, suddenly stopped working on some computers. And by not working, that means immediately after hitting ""refresh all"", excel terminates. I am really baffled here. It works on some computers and not on others, same versions of excel, different versions, Windows 7, windows 10, it does not seem to matter. They are on Sage 4.5 and using Excel 2013 or 2016 (Office 365). Any insight would be appreciated.

Could this be some type of issue with an external data source? As to why it only happens on some computers - could it be (a) rights, (b) Excel version or some combination? Maybe even something anti-virus / firewall related?

I'm going to followup on the anti-virus angle. We did a major Trend Micro update a bit ago.

FYI - Problem solved by disabling the Trend Micro Worry Free Business Security v10 feature - Devices > Workstations > Configure > Behavior Monitoring > Ransomware Protection > Anti-Exploit Protection. This is a new feature in this version and detects an ODBC connection to Sage from Excel as malware and terminates Excel immediately.
