I have a client on Sage 100 Advanced v4.4.0.8 on Windows Server 2008 R2. They print S/O's on an old Printek dot matrix printer. When I upgraded them (from 4.2), the one Windows 7 (64-bit)workstation could not successfully print the upgraded S/O form. The XP machines had no problem. Could not get it to work using a driver that Printek claims is a high speed driver. Long story short - made a copy of the form and modified it with some font changes and got it to print with a generic/text driver. Now the owner of the business has asked his IT provider to recommend a newer model dot matrix printer that he can purchase to replace the old Printek. Does anyone have d-m printers (Make/model) they know are being successfully used out in the field with this configuration?

OKI Datas are still very reliable. Why won't he consider a laser jet?

I have to back @JeffSchwenk up here, is there not some way this could be done with a laser jet? print multiple copies, mutli-tray printer with different color paper, something? My consulting brain is kicking in, (must tame the beast!!!) - how many copies do they print and where do they go? We use a tool called PrintBoss from Wellspring Software to route copies to multiple printers. (We use it for printing ACH checks as well for better security) It's cheap and it works! Just thinking.

I am on board with everyone else here... but, if you must ... OKI Datas do an OK job - If memory serves, they have an Epson emulation so that gives you more options when it comes to the windows drivers. Also had some good luck with Epson DFX 8500 if you are needing a hi speed work horse (relative to the dot matrix world of course), that can do green bar --- yes you read that right, I still have clients printing on green bar.

If you go the Oki route, do not use their ethernet port - connect it to a workstation or server and share it from there. Had a customer buy one about a year ago and set it up on the ethernet port - every time multiple users sent jobs to it at the same time it lost some of them - switched it off the ethernet and no more missing jobs.
